Parent Guide

Parent Guide: Quran Learning

Help your child fall in love with the Quran — without burnout.

For: Parents of children ages 4–16

A complete, step-by-step roadmap for parents in the West who want their child to read, understand and love the Quran.

01.Where to start

Begin with Noorani Qaida — the foundation that teaches Arabic letters, sounds and basic Tajweed. Skipping this step almost always means slower progress later.

Choose a teacher your child connects with. Comfort matters more than credentials at the very beginning.

02.Setting a healthy pace

3–5 classes per week of 30 minutes is the sweet spot for most children. Add a short 10-minute home review on the other days.

  • 2 classes/week — light, suits busy school weeks
  • 3 classes/week — balanced, steady progress
  • 5 classes/week — fastest results, recommended during Qaida

03.Realistic milestones

Letters & sounds: 4–8 weeks. Noorani Qaida finished: 3–6 months. Reading the Quran fluently (Nazra): 12–24 months. Tajweed mastery: ongoing alongside reading.

04.How parents can help at home

Listen — don't correct. Let the teacher correct pronunciation; your job is encouragement.

Make Quran time a warm, predictable part of the day, like brushing teeth.
